We're renovating our fireplace from a traditional mantle to a large tile and a floating mantle. Previously the mantle matched the kitchen cabinets (stained maple in a cinnamon colour). Being that it is an open concept and the both the kitchen and living room are visible at all times, should the new mantle continue to match the kitchen cabinets? I'm not convinced that the colour of the tile and the maple stain will provide the most impact.
