You should work with your floor tile and I would suggest the same tone for your paint color. Add modern hardware (Home Depot sells some styles in packs of 10 and it's much cheaper, one style is cupped). Add rattan blinds on door and you could paint the door black. A large hemp rug would make the floor feel more modern and define the space. Modern light fixtures (industrial farmhouse feel) and metal stools (ones below are sold at Target) would be great if you have the budget or paint yours grey or black. I think for less than $500, you can transform the space or just have a vision and purchase items as your budget allows. Enjoy your new home.
