"farmhouse" means many different things to different people.

Black can look great, and/or rustic, and weathered nickel sounds pretty spiff too. Have you picked your lights?

Tom, I am not sure about my island light finish yet but leaning towards a chrome or nickel pendant :) I just want to be sure my entire kitchen gives off the farmhouse vibe at the very end :)

I only have a mental idea of what weathered nickel looks like. I do think a finish that contrasts with the island would be nice. Just make sure door styles and hardware selections have the same lines even if they are different colors (actually, especially if they are different colors). I was also thinking a brighter finish such as chrome or nickel for your lighting. Good luck!
