Assuming that you close the door to the laundry room most of the time for privacy you wont be seeing the flooring choice between the spaces. But what if you were to use a mosaic tile along where the two different tile types meet? It doesn't necessarily have to be a mosaic tile just something that visually serves as a termination point between the two materials to show this was thought through not simple two different tiles used haphazardly. (change in size or orientation of the time could so the same job)

Eliminate the door...or...same tile throughout. Anything thing else is a very poor choice IMO.

SAME tile!! Paint the walls a different color. Seriously, do NOT do two. Most design "fails" occur when people make very simple things complicated.

I will go so far as to say.......ONE TILE to a "living" floor, unless separated by another flooring surface entirely. Such as two different baths, off a hardwood or carpeted hallway, ensuite baths off a carpeted bedroom etc.. It's the quickest way to ruin your flow , cut up your house, and destroy resale at the same time .

You could do herringbone. small tiles or larger tiles

Larger tiles look more classic, smaller looks busy.
