Research, Schluter's Kerdi systems are a great place to start. Never tile over drywall in damp/ wet areas as there is not an effective way to keep moisture from damaging your underlying structure. I see many customers who have expensive structural problems as a result of improper tile application.

We tiled the ceiling in our shower. Our contractor used an epoxy-based tile adhesive that was quick drying. He back-buttered each tile, as well as applied the adhesive to the concrete board. He held each tile until set.

Thanks caliciajean. I've been searching high and low and have gone to a few stores but not getting that exact look that I'm going for from this image! will keep searching and let you know if I come across anything else :-)
