your granite is called Baltic Brown. Your really should remove the 4" piece if you want to tile. that technically is your splash.

this is your countertop, w/the piece and a backsplash of travertine subway tile. the travertine would also be a nice choice

However, if you still want to tile atop of that, that maybe a taupe glass tile?

this is a 2x8 frosted glass (I think this one is aHD, Contempo Vista Smokey Taupe)

Lowes has these two:3x6 american clean in plaza taupe, and 2x8 in oxford tan.

stay away from anything white or cream unless you can match it to your cabinets.
