Lovely room and sofa! Are you looking for curtain panels or just black out shades?

What direction to the windows face? Unless it's East, black out shades will not be necessary - just shades for privacy.

Hunter Douglass has really great Silhouette Adeux with EasyRise, that you can have as sheers only, privacy, and blackouts. It's clean, not too fussy and they can mount within the window frame. That way, if you want to do decorative side panels you can go in that direction too.

It looks like a lovely room. I would not want to block that light during the day. I would use decorative rods with linen colored blackout panels ( grommet top). They can very easily be closed when needed but kept fully open at other times.

As you have a sofa right up near the window I would suggest inside mount roman shades. I doubt by the direction the shadows are cast that you need blackout...dim out is probably plenty there. Either fabric romans in print or solid color with tape trim to liven up the space.

Here is what we did for our youngest in her city co-op. She needed darkening and privacy. We used a blackout shade and a large slate Venetian blind. This allows her to have a variety of options for privacy, light, and darkness.

There are really nice bamboo blackout shades that a friend of mine has. Raise them half way during the day, then lower at night.
