Help tweak this plan please?

House was designed and built for elderly couple, what would you do to make this a better plan?

I had the same thought. Her closet is way too far away.

Why not give them each their own bathroom? Some day, this house will be passed down or sold and the two master bedrooms will become one master and one really nice guest room. They won't want to share the bathroom.

Do we really need a 'study,' 'den,' 'living room' and 'media room?' 4 living rooms feels like two too many. But I don't know the couple. Perhaps they each want their own office. In that case, the plan may make sense.

In that huge space, I think the kitchen is small. Not a ton of prep or cleanup space. I wonder if the island can be made to run the whole length of the kitchen for more counter space.

This house was designed around their needs, they owned their own business needed the offices in the house. I am looking for ideas to improve the plan, we are thinking about buying this house. We have a builder meeting us next week to review the interior of the house. I as hoping to get a few ideas on here to discuss with the builder.

I would switch the location of the Her Master closet and the shower area. Much more convenient.

Enter the His Master through a matching double door opposite the Her Master. Didn't like His opening being beside the Laundry because of noise. You could consider placing a door in the hallway to the two Masters. This would allow privacy if they chose to keep both sets of double doors open.

There are certainly issues with this plan, but your questions is how to make it "better", and we don't really know enough about you and your family to give much useful advice. What is the location? How big is the lot? What is the orientation of the house? How big is your family, and if there are children how long will they live there? Knowing the answers to these questions would allow is to give "better" advice.

We are in our late 30s have two kids, one 16 and one only 2. We are looking at this house as an investment property. It is priced well below market value for our neighborhood. Average home price is near $850,000. It is on a very large lot .78 acres.

We will live in the house for two years if we move forward with the deal. We want to redo the interior for a younger family with high end finishes. Also want to add a nice back porch that opens up to the great room. Ad a nice butlers pantry and expand the kitchen somehow. Also totally rework the master bedroom bathroom area, maybe have her bedroom connect to a jack and Jill bathroom to only have one master suite.

It is a lot of house but could be something special with the right builder
