I wouldn't add more "lines" to your tiled room.

I just wouldn't do wood (pun intended). Houzz is full of people trying to deal with their 70s and 80s "wood" walls - and the advice is almost invariably, rip them out and drywall over.

If I were you, I'd look at adding some color and texture through carpets on the floor and art on the walls, and forget the wood.
