Try posting in the Trees forum - there are many that could work and not all need to be limbed up. Especially those that anchor a larger planting area with other shrubs/perennials included. Katsuras are a great choice but only one of many that would work.

The Trees forum is here - it is one of the scores of garden-related forums that makes up GardenWeb.....which was in existence long before Houzz came on the scene.

This is no reflection on you, aprildch, but this is a prime example of a non-design related question that is being filtered to this forum via Houzz's Design Dilemmas unnecessarily and erroneously. This sort of question should have been directed immediately to one of GW's plant related forums, instead of waltzing the OP down a path that just delays the efficient answering of her question. If you all haven't already, please contact the Houzz powers-that-be to express your dissatisfaction at the way these non-design topics keep getting shuffled here.

Emerald Queen Maples do well in clay soil, full sun and grow fast with a good shade crown, however if you want to hide the shed next door, you'll need to plant a conifer for annual coverage.
