We purchased a ranch-style home 8 years ago and it has dark wood trim and doors throughout, with white walls. We have been gradually working on rooms. Since it is not an open concept, I wondered if it would help with changing some baseboard to another color without changing it in all rooms. Example: one interior hallway has 4 dark stained doors off it and dark stained baseboard. With painting the walls a light gray, perhaps painting the baseboard may brighten the hallway but I wonder how this might look with the dark baseboards still in the rooms that go off the hallway. And if painted, should the baseboard be white or a couple shades darker than the walls? And do I need to paint the door trim and/or doors? Or should I just leave the dark trim? I'm at a loss when it comes to this!
