Purchased fabric from Calico Corners, around $30-35 per yard I think.

New Sunbrella Fabrics can be soft and nice. HOWEVER after 1 summer our new cushions in our 3 season porch got moldy from morning dew. Very annoying for the high price. New indoor custom ottoman w/Sunbrella has held up to feet & the cat so far.

Just a FYI - Sunbrella itself is mildew resistant. It will only flourish if the there is dirt on the Sunbrella fabric. If you treat it with 303 as an extra step then it helps keep mildew at bay. Also, 1 cup of bleach and 4 cups of water and some srubbing will take it all away! :) Remember no scotchguard on Sunbrella as it is silicone based and will degrade the Sunbrella over time.

mmjessbillard, after 2+ years our sofa still looks like new, in fact I also used the same fabric on two chairs in our guest room. That being said, if the pieces received daily use I would choose a darker color. I would not hesitate to use Sunbrella fabrics again in any room.

I know thus is an old thread but.....I am contemplating chairs and a sofa in Sunbrella that will get daily use. Flasthrnbel, why do you say you would you choose a darker color for daily use?

I stayed at a condo on the beach and the owner had a black/white striped fabric on their sofa that I loved. When I looked for the tag to see who made it, I was shocked to see Sunbrella!! I thought that was a brilliant idea to upholster a rental in a tolerable fabric that withstands sun damage and damp suits. I am now working with a client and am encouraging them to do the same for the furniture in their sunroom, off the pool.

I bought a sofa done in SUNBRELLA fabric fora condo in FLA and I love it. They make a wonderful indoor fabric that isn't stiff like the outdoor fabric.

We have Sunbrella fabric on our chairs, ottoman and daybed covers at our beach house. Looks great and has held up well.

What furniture brands offer indoor Sunbrella fabrics? Or do COM? I am looking for something for my living room, good quality (but cannot afford very top of the line)

Pottery Barn and Arhaus both offer Sunbrella fabric for their indoor furniture.

Carolina Chair does, too.

Check out Revolution fabric. It is completely stain resistant and very soft. I have it on several pieces of furniture. I also have a lot of Sunbrella which I am also happy with. The Revolution has a woven texture, and is very budget friendly.

Has anyone had their indoor Sunbrella upholstery professionally cleaned? I have 2 couches that need it - and Sunbrella doesn't recommend steam cleaning. Thank you in advance.

Hey, sorry I missed this. I got my sofa at High Fashion Home in Houston and they delivered it. FYI working with them was a nightmare, I probably would have gone with another company had I know. However, when I finally got my sofa, it was everything I wanted! It's been about 1.5 with 4 young kids, husband and a dog. And it's dirty so I'm about to do the bleach and water clean. But even thought it's a sand color I still love it! It has gotten a little fuzzy over the year

We are shopping at Mitchell Gold and they carry Sunbrella Indoor fabric. They recommend removing cushion covers and putting them through the washer/dryer. The color choices at Mitchell Gold are not as attractive (IMO) as Pottery Barn, but we love the Keaton Sofa.

I purchased a large sectional from Bassett furniture in 9/15. Had it covered with Sunbrella fabric solely because of promises about it being the best for cleaning. Wrong. It's been a major nightmare. It was an expensive mistake. Then a 2 year old and a choc chip cookie met up with it in 8/16. That led to 6 months of back and forth wtih Sunbrella/Glen Raven, Bassett and 2 cleanings by Stanley Steemer(Sunbrella sent them). They ended up reupholstering HALF of the 12x9ft sectional- had to be removed from the home for 6-8 weeks! Now I keep dog throw covers on it when anyone other than myself and my husband are going to sit on it. It's horrible. It was a very expensive mistake. I would never recommend this stuff. The irony is I do have all the dining chairs and counter stools covered in the textured Sunbrella fabric--- I can clean it up no problem. But the Dove Grey Sunbrella fabric on the most expensive piece in the house can't be cleaned. I welcome the name of any company that knows how to clean this stuff. And yes, we did attempt to do as the chart says with sepcific cleaning items. No luck. Very telling that the cleaning company they sent out couldn't get the chocolate stains out either. Oh, can't forget after the professional cleanings, the sectional had odd brown tinged stains where they had been none! *added a few photos to show these were small stains that couldn't be removed. Also, what the furniture looks like when 'new' and how we have to live with it covered- ugly.

Teri, I am currently looking at sunbrella fabrics for furniture in a rental we are buying. This is very concerning. Did you deal with the people you purchased the sectional from, or from sunbrella directly? I'd be upset too.

I just machine washed all of my sunbrella fabric covers for my sofa and it came out perfect! I'm still glad I chose it!

After reading this - I think I'll go with the chinese knockoff draperies that are 1/2 the cost and replace them when they're needed. Thanks for sharing!

Sunbrella is a great choice indoors or out. The stiffer material you are referring to is Sunbrella RAIN, which would not be used indoors.

We're looking for stiff, water repellant drapes. We run a dehumidifier in a carport space. We use the area like a family room in good seasons, but live in the rainforest and want to use it in the rainy times. Very humid here! We would like to drape it off with 50" x 84" panels (17 of them) Grommeted top for threading, and grommets at the bottom for tying down for winds. Can you price that out for us? Thanks!

Gluckie, I purchased it from Bassett Furniture. I contacted Sunbrella for help. It was over $10,000. I still don’t recommend it. Ashley, that may have worked for your cleaning needs by removing cushion covers and throwing them in the washer. However, what about the fabric that can’t be removed which is quite a bit on a sectional. And if one has the top cushions attached...what do you suggest they do? I’ll just continue using dog throw covers until Sunbrella figures out how to clean this stuff of stains other than a glass of water or wine that they continually show in advertisements.

i understand there are two types of sunbrella fabric....I wonder whether the "indoor" sunbrella fabric is fade resistant or do I have to use the "outdoor" sunbrella fabric to get fade resistance... I have a new, sunny sunroom that needs furniture. any feedback would be appreciated..

if anybody starts a business selling indoor furniture and then you can pick your Sunbrella fabric you'll make a fortune it's hard to find at a fair price especially swivel chairs

There’s one in Charlotte, NC. I can’t say how reasonable they are because I am not familiar with pricing, but they have tons of Sunbrella fabric. You pick your style sofa and fabric. It’s called Kasby’s by the Lake if you want to check them out.

The sofa I bought for my condo in FLA was by Capri Furniture. Purchased at a mom and pop furniture store.

The store was Gouse’s furniture.

I purchased a sofa in Sunbrella fabric (Tanglewood in Marine Blue). I thought that it would be fantastic for my family with 5 young kids. WRONG! It is the most challenging sofa to keep clean. If you spill a drop of water on it, there is a mark. If my kids have wet hands and touch the sofa, the stains appear almost immediately. Cleaning it is such a chore and not what I was expecting. For the price that I paid, I am so disappointed in this fabric. My 4 year old sofa looks terrible--my 12 year old sofa in the basement looks better than the Sunbrella covered sofa. Biggest mistake!

I purchased chairs from RH 3 years ago in an outdoor performance fabric. The fabric has pilled and stretched out. Won’t do that again.

How do leather couches hold up? I have white slipcovered sofas from Ethan Allen and I need a change.

Purchased an Ethan Allen sofa and spent an extra $1000 to upgrade to sunbrella Boone. Nightmare. It shows every stain, even watermarks. It is stretching. We are retired and the sofa only has adults sitting on it. They are working with us. Next step is to have THEM reupholster in a regular, durable fabric. Must be a quality control issue. I have custom made pillows in off white and navy, and they clean better than the Sunbrella Indoor. Two years old- looks ten. Stay away!

I'm a bit shocked that people have had trouble with sunbrella fabric staining or fading. I have a very dominant little free range bunny who occasionally marks so my chairs and couch have Sunbrella slipcovers in grey. The slipcovers look so nice and any time bunny has expressed herself, the slipcovers have gone through the wash and come out looking as perfect as ever. (Same with cats throwing up - comes right out.) I bought my slipcovers through Cushion Source online. Perhaps the furniture stores are buying substandard Sunbrella to use on their offerings? Living with pets who are for the most part tidy but have their moments, Sunbrella was definitely the solution I was looking for. Aesthetically it's a very nice, crisp, tailored look that gets dressed up with throw pillows.

We are in the process of having a sectional built for our Living Room and Bassette Furniture has not come to the stage of doing the upholstery yet. we ordered Sunbrella in Woven White Dove. Now I am very concerned after reading these reviews on Sunbrella in the home!! So very nervous now. It’s a very big purchase to have to worry about stains and pills and looking old after a couple of years. Especially after upgrading to something we were told would stand up to our Yorkshire Terrier and cat!

So today I called Bassette Furniture to see if I can change to their performance fabrics. I was also concerned that it would be scratchy to the touch upon laying down on it. It is woven, so I know it has texture but is it really comfortable for a living room? Yikes! Any comments I would appreciate!!! Am I right to be very concerned?? Sales clerk says she’s never heard of Sunbrella staining and piling.

Hi. I wrote a few years ago and stand by my comment. i bought from Bassett, who were no help at all during the problem. it cost over $10K for the sectional. It’s in a second home that is not main residence. My outdoor Sunbrella fabric- great. Indoor- not so much. The pillow and dining chairs have a textured Sunbrellaxl fabric which is easier to clean up. But my entire sectional, except for top cushions, was reupholstered at no cost to me Inside of a year. I regret not changing it at that point. I am still using dog throws when anyone under 21 is around and we aren’t eating near it. It’s ridiculous. I have a couple photos on this page and the fabric name which I think is Dove Grey. Good luck. It’s a big expense and the salespeople should be more knowledgeable yet they aren’t.

I have sunbrella cushions for my breakfast nook and it’s seriously the worse thing ever. Even water stains this stupid thing. NEVER AGAIN! I bought a couch 3 years ago that had LiveSmart performance fiber and it’s seriously the freaking best thing I’ve ever owned. I just wipe this couch clean and it looks brand new. Good luck.

Do. Not. Buy. Sunbrella. For. Indoor. Use. I can't stress enough how terrible this fabric is! We bought a sectional from Jordan's Furniture and paid extra for the Sunbrella fabric because we have kids and pets. We wanted something that would be easy to clean. This material is not easy to clean and stains easily. Not only that but it started pilling within a couple months. I vaccuum the couch and have washed stains with soap and water, and used a carpet/upholstery cleaning machine that we own and nothing has worked on the stains. I contacted both the furniture store (who said to hire professional upholstery cleaner or buy replacement cushions!) and Sunbrella and neither were any help. Some of the worst stains are on the back cushions which must be from hairspray or other hair products. I have tried everything on those and nothing even makes a dent in those stains so now we have to have blankets draped over the back of the sectional. The outdoor Sunbrella fabric is good but the indoor Sunbrella fabric is the worst. We've never had a sofa look this bad! Stay away from Sunbrella indoor fabric!!!

Did you reach out to Glen Raven to complain? The guy who was my contact May be gone as it’s been 3 years since we last ‘talked’. He was extremely helpful. Bassett where I bought it, not so much. and it’s a joke using a cleaning company bc they sent out Stanley Steemer twice/ ended up worse than when they walked in. Those guys hated the fabric same as me. I lucked out in getting the majority of it redone At their cost. I posted anywhere I could about it and git a response by Glen Raven guy. But I didn’t think ahead and get a different texture of fabric. The ones that are a little rougher seem to clean up easier(have it on pillows and chairs). My sectional remains covered with dog throws/ and we have no dogs. I added photos a few years ago. I feel your pain as this is being sold under false promises. I bought it solely bc my first grandchild was coming. the child touched it with a chocolate chip cookie and took it down. only had it for about 6 months and barely used it bc it’s in summer place. ConsOder posting on their FB page with photos.

Over the last several years I've had a number of cushions made for dining chairs using either Sunbrella Canvas black or Sunbrella canvas wheat color. I believe this is intended to be an outdoor fabric. The fabric feels very nice, not stiff. I recently had to wash one of the wheat color cushion covers for the first time. I took it off the cushion, put it in the washing machine with other colored clothes, and it came out looking beautiful--just like new.

My dark blue color rubs off on my walls! I would never buy it again total junk for indoor furniture

Update to our purchase: During 2020 lockdown, we let an older couple rent our vacation condo for 9 months as they were worried about traceling back up north. i swear they didnt clean ANYTHING the entire time they were there which left my white Sunbrella sofa and loveseat filthy from their bodies and spills. i called the store we bought the sofas from and they told me to try plain water and a few drops of Dawn dish soap in a squirt bottle. if that didnt work, throw the cushion covers in the wash. i should have just thrown the covers in the washer, but theyre so hard to get back on, i was trying to avoid thag st all cost. After SEVEN cleanings, i finally got the fabric back to an acceptable state. (ignore comments from cleaning service)

All of that being said, if i ever had to buy furniture for a rental again, I’d weight the pros and cons. Cleaning is easy if you do it right away. But after 9 months of nasty people on it, not as easy. Sunbrella is expensive, but so is professional cleaning every time a renter leaves or buying new furniture. i would probably buy cheaper furniture and replace it as needed.

I sew cushion covers with sunbrella fabric for clients in the Annapolis, Md area and highly recommend using the lighter weight indoor upholstery grade Average cost per yard is $25 which will generally cover one cushion if the cover is made in the wrap methid with no piping, no seam in the front vertical box panel and a zipper in the back.

Horrid recommendation from this customer. Purchased a sofa from Pottery Barn about 5 years ago. My favorite piece of comfy furniture. Returned to Pottery Barn last year to purchase same sofa but in SUNBRELLA. It is so hard and uncomfortable that no one is able to sit on sofa. The cushion material inside is the same as my favorite comfy sofa. Of course Pottery Barn is not standing behind their merchandise. Have nothing good to say about Sunbrella indoor or Pottery Barn.
