You mentioned flocked metallic wallpaper. The wallpaper I found in my kitchen (see above) had shiny gold highlights, i.e. the edges of the roofs, etc. I saved a small piece of it.

I know what you mean. I love them all but can't imagine any rooms in my house where it would work. In my grandparents' old little house, years after it was empty, we kids went inside and found one upstairs bedroom with cowboy wall paper. I can see it in my mind clear as a bell to this day, cowboys on bucking broncos!

Did you see the "Fighter Jets"? I don't know why, but I really like that one. lol

I'm pretty sure 2 of those were st my grandparents house, and I think we had the strawberries one at ours. I'd put up the pink cranes in a New York minute if I thought DH would go along with it. Seems like a powder room kind of thing ;-)

My Mom loved putting up wall paper, so did her mother. Not me, I have no patience plus no where really to use some. The only paper I have is in the library and it's a wide border under the crown molding.

Yikes! $18 a yard. I've never bought wallpaper by the yard. I wish I could find the perfect 1940 roll of my dreams that I could afford. eBay had one once but I would have had to rob a bank.

I remember my mom, now 91 wallpapering frequently...up on a ladder in her house dress. As a child I thought she could do anything.

She made her own paste...I think it was made out of corn starch???

When my mother bought her last house, the foyer and powder room was wallpapered in orange paper with enormous elephants. Maybe for a child's bedroom, but I can't imagine any other situation where orange elephants would look good. Needless to say, she removed it and re-papered it in something more subtle.

Chess, never say never! I said the same about wallpaper and ended up with wallpaper in my master bedroom. Once I saw the hand painted crossweave metallic paper there was nothing else that would do!

I had linked to the wallpaper designer's web page before, but sadly she has passed away (from cancer) since I did my bedroom about 2 years ago and I don't think the company made it without her (Anya Larkin).

chispa, sorry, but it really is a never, for me. I don't like busy or textured looks on a wall, and I swore that I will never take down wallpaper again. After all I went through to get that crap off my walls, I assure you, I do mean never. :-)

I have to agree with Chess. Never again for me either! I've done a lot of papering and paper removal, the last time I swore never again, that was several years ago and I still have no desire for wallpaper. Yes, I can appreciate it in other's homes, but not my own.
