I am remodeling my brick fireplace and chimney with stone and need help deciding which color. The fireplace is the focal point of my living room, and the chimney goes all the way up to a cathedral ceiling. It also butts up against my open kitchen. The front of the fireplace faces the living room and the back faces the kitchen. My kitchen is white high-gloss cabinets with gray and white marble-looking granite with stainless appliances. Both living room and kitchen have light colored oak wood floors.

I was originally thinking the white and gray stone so it flows with the kitchen and has a modern feel, but everyone is telling me that it's too stark/harsh, and they like my other choice better which has warmer tones. I like them both and think either will work, but i'm second guessing myself now! Opinions please!!!!!!!!!
