(Finally) Dehydrated Paniculatas

Following two weeks of somewhat intense heat, dry air, and high UV, finally a few paniculatas are showing fairly major stress.

This was also a bad year for late season fungal blights, which are now also infecting not only my paniculatas but full size trees to heights of 30-50 feet.

The drought has actually accelerated lower level leaf drop due to. As many as half of all total leaves are now gone before color change has effectively begun.

But I'm mainly posting to illustrate how much underwatering combined with fungal issues looks *very similar* to plain old overwatering, which is a much more common issue on this board.

Note: I have STILL watered just enough to keep the topmost leaves erect and not allowing to become saggy & crisping for more than 24 hours straight.
