How's that Zinc counter top working out, does it scratch easy, show wear and clean up nice?

The chalkboard was salvaged from Ballard High School and purchased here in Seattle at Restore. It is thin and had to be backed with ply and then wet sanded until very smooth. The client was big on DIY and spent hours in the backyard making this happen! It is finished with linseed oil. The edges are steel as the edges are vulnerable as all slate tends to sluff.

Yes - the reason for the Zinc was to use something that would patina and age over time. It is doing so nicely ;)
