straw color to me means dead (from whatever cause). That said, is that KBG (at least in part)? If so, all you need is moderate fertilization and keeping the soil adequately hydrated. It'll spread quite a bit until end of fall.

It's a mix of mostly TTTF. I just started light fert apps since now our temps are dropping n getting some rain now and then.

What do you think of raking out dead grass n spreading some peat moss? Think it might help filling in?

Fescue will not spread to fill in those gaps. It will tiller, but it will not spread.

Well it's not 100% TTTF, it's a 90/10 KBG mix. Unfortunately by the time I started watering it was too late. It was the warmest,driest fall I've ever experienced.
