Cherrywood cabinets painted or not?

Do these cherrywood cabinets clash with the barn doors? Thinking of painting my cherrywood cabinets off white and adding oil rubbed bronze hardware. I don't hate the cabinets they juts wouldn't be my first choice. The barn doors can be seen from the kitchen and other furniture is a similar warm light to medium honey color.

Definitely paint the cabinets. Killing the decor. Bring in rustic black hardware for the cabinets to compliment the barn door hardware.

Argh. Barn doors are a fad that is already tired. Get a real door and leave your cabinets alone.

I like your idea of the cream cabinets & the hardware you suggested.

those aren't really cherry wood, right? it's just wood, prob birch, stained in a very dark red stain? natural cherry has grain and no one would ever stain it this dark. paint them.

They were put in by a track home builder and my guess is they are what you suggested. That makes me feel better to paint over them!

Hello. I would not begin to recolour anything.

Paint the cabinets. For they are not original and they indeed don't fit very well. I happen to love barndoors.

Do agree that if you match the hardware on the door, the look will probably be even better, or you already have bronze elsewhere, or are planning to get bronze elsewhere.

Cream cabinets with black hardware would look great. Black hardware on the cabinets would mix better with the barn doors.

Personally, I would not change your kitchen cabinet color because of one door. The rest of your doors and trim appear to be white, so I'm not sure it is the cabinets clashing with the barn door, but perhaps the barn door clashing with the rest of the house. Maybe it would all flow better if your barn door was white to match the other doors in the house or cherry to match your cabinets.

All of my wood furniture matches the barn door tones. They are actually stunning doors in person that are 9' tall, solid wood and custom made. They warm up our entryway and it desperately needed the warmth. My house is decorated pottery barn style and they do work. The cherry wood isn't my style, I just didn't want to devalue the cabinets and wanted reassurance that the tones didn't work, which I am seeing here is right on.

If the cabinets are builder grade and not REAL cherrywood, I suggest that you have the cabinet doors professionally painted in a spray room. They will look much better than if you paint them yourself.

I would say go with cream colored. Normally I would hate to paint over dark cherrywood cabinets, but it would work really well in your space.

I am not a fan of painting cabinets but in this case i would say do it Ideally Id like to see new cabinets but if thats not an option. The white cabinets would work but then the counter has to go. Incorporate the counter top with the back splash ( which you should have) maybe carry the counter top up the back splash.

I'm with Gotham - I would much prefer to see barnwood open shelving here, 3 high on ORB/ iron brackets, with painted base cabs, slate black counters and subway backslash. Do it right, do it once. :)
