If you mean that you have dark wood in your bedroom then that comforter will just add to the darkness. I would choose lighter colors, perhaps a cream background with some soft yellows, blues, pinks and/or greens.

What size comforter do you need, and what are you favorite colors? It sounds like you're starting from scratch and can go in whatever direction you'd like, unless you wanted the colors in the one you show above.

My mom actually had a duvet cover with a very similar color scheme and pattern. I think such a thing could be found and I like the color scheme. But you could also find that same "look" in a blue color scheme. Google "blue paisley comforter" and then check out stuff in the "images" tab. I agree with Ingrid that that color is not going to brighten the room. It;s just going to be more of the same wood tones. If you could show us what your woodwork is like, we can help you find something more cheerful.

I went back and read your op. Are you just talking about the wooden floors and furniture or wood trim and paneling too? That's a big difference. Wall color?

No, not paneling. Just wood floors and furniture but It's an alcove bedroom, unusual shape. Difficult room to decorate. I'll try looking for a program where I can layout room.

The pillows that are sold separately, are the first pillow in pic, which I'm not crazy about. (I like one behind that). They also sell separately the same as those that come with comforter. I'm not sure I'll keep it. I'll see what it looks like once it arrives. It may be too dark for room and I may end up going with something completely different. Very difficult room to decorate because of its layout and window and built in drawers.

Nice pictures, all very different. I have blues (aquas, lightblues, greens) and white in most of house and am growing tired of it. And I liked the inspiration picture but I don't think the comforter I ordered is going to work. I'll see. You gave some great ideas here. Thanks, all.
