Annie - I do have a lot more pictures. I'll post them in sections as I go along. Yes, the potential is there. I'm excited to get started in the coming months.

Holly - I'm actually meeting with a few different architects and designers in the next couple of weeks to put plans together. I just thought in the meantime it would be fun to get some ideas here.

This house reminds me of the McKinley residence by David Hertz. The house has been featured on a number of television shows. I first saw it in an epsiode of Californication that I just happened to be flipping through. I can't find any pics on Houzz, but you can google it end and find numerous pics on the web.

You have lots of potential with this home. I think the McKinley residence can give you some inspiration.

I think for the portion above your garage would look gorgeous as stained wood (like a reddish-dark brown stain) and surround the garage area with stone...though that can get expensive so I do not know what your budget is! and the trim could be a cool gray or white...those color palates work extremely well together and your house has such defined lines that you could do some great things with the materials

bgro - I was thinking of exactly just that..... white and cool grays, maybe even black/onyx around the trim.
Definitely want the stone tiles but wasn't sure where to place them. I think around the garage area is interesting and minimal without being overpowering which I hadn't thought about. There is also a chimney - unfortunately you can't see it from the angle the picture was taken - i was thinking about doing the stone tile there also which would tie it all in nicely. Hmmmmm, stained wood panels above the garage - I like your ideas. You've given me so much to think about.
