Off-centered window. Need design ideas.

We are in the midst of a major home remodel. The house oddly only had built ins for closets in all of the secondary rooms. We recently took out the built in and built a closet. The only place to put it (without getting into having to move ventilation around and rewiring, which we did not want to do) was right next to the window. Now the room looks very unbalanced. I am thinking about putting a desk to the left of the window and installing some simple shelving above to create a more balanced look. My thought is to create a writing/study area in the room. Any other ideas for how to stage this room to make it look good and balance it out? What about window treatments? Thanks for the advice!

I like that idea and the round mirror is a nice touch. The room is a bit bigger than it looks, it's just hard to capture it in photos. I am hoping the photographer we hire when we are ready to post it will be able to get more representative shots! Below are some pics of the rest of the room to give a better idea of layout. That's a queen sized bed. Thanks again for the idea!

Here is a before in case anyone is interested to see the change.

Otherwise, a chair with a high back, with a floor lamp or small table next to it would feel cozy there and fill that corner.

Dimensions/floor plan of your room would be helpful. Girl or boy? Are you staging to sell? I don't think you have room for a desk to left of window facing that wall; however you could place longer desk/maybe console depth to right of the bed, so it is perpendicular to the window wall. I would think of roman shade w/ drape panels on left of window to make window appear wider.

Sounds like you are staging to sell. I would make the entry to room view the wow. You can do the desk on right of bed if desired and nightstand on left---or two nightstands (same) and then a small chair next to right nightstand.

Seeing your before, I would have considered matching small closets on either side of the window. But everything is a trade-off.

We did think about doing two closets, but they would have been very shallow or taken up too much floor space. We wanted a larger more functional closet, but now balancing it out is the challenge! Thanks for all the ideas!

Yes, Imhofan, we are staging to sell so the room won't be boy or girl specific. I can provide dimensions later, but I like all the ideas.

I need to measure, but I was originally thinking something like this

Balancing the 'empty' space with furniture or decor is key!

With this example, framed art, well proportioned piece of furniture and a mirror, distracts from the off-center window.

or create a 'wall' of drapery to help with the illusion!

Given it's a bedroom, instead of making the space feel so utilitarian/study like, I would suggest a softer feel using a more multi-functional table that can also double as a dressing table and be sure to add a comfy chair vs a desk chair. Look for interesting second hand pieces, change the handles, paint the desk or reupholster the chair if you have to...create a focal point vs a tagged on office area.
