Ceiling shower rod or curved shower bar?

The shower bar has rusted in our enclosed tub shower alcove. The alcove is seven feet high with a foot soffit above it. I am favoring the ceiling shower rod with 18 inch chains.
Would it look strange having the chains against the soffit?
