It's been about a month so I thought I would post some updated images. 7 of the 10 seeds sown germinated. I placed an opaque barrier on top so the light is more filtered. Despite this, some of the seedlings are still reddish brown while others are green and one seems to be an albino.

Tyler, check the clear one it may just be a water balloon;). I've had some of mine do that and that's exactly what they were little water balloons;).

How do I do that? Poke it with a pin? And what causes it? Any danger (like a fungus or something) to my other seedlings?

You know I don't know what causes it. Haven't really checked. I doubt it's anything you did wrong or even fungus. I think it's just one of those things. When and if you do pop it. It will literally look like a clear droplet of water. I poked mine with a toothpick;).

I always have Lophophora williamsii seeds that I give away. My plants are growing all over the world, with lots sown by naughty boys and girls in the US and Oz.

The position taken on these plants in this country is a shame. I have no interest in ingesting this plant. Only growing my collection of the different and unique. I think they are beautiful plants.

Is anybody starting seeds right now in N. hemisphere at the start of winter? I have lots of seeds and I don't want to wait until spring.

I would start some if I had some that I really wanted to start. None at the moment though.

Can't wait till spring either, sowing pretty much year round. Given my set up and location, it's actually harder to control temp in summer, I could run the risk to fry them (I am often out of town at that time too). Just using a few heat mat to warm up a small chamber with a few LED lights, works fine in San Jose year round :).

I enjoy starting seeds under lights and on a heat mat in the depths of winter. Great to see life spring up at this dark time of year.
