I don't understand why you would handle a colored comforter any differently from a white one, unless it's full of artificial fill and can be washed at home like a blanket. I'd put a duvet on it and use it with nothing but a fitted sheet underneath.

You would treat it as you would a white one...if you don't like the look during the day just use a coverlet with the duvet at the bottom and just pull up at night.

Thank you acm & Maureen. acm: "...why treat it different than white..." Because depending upon the color, that color shows through some duvets. And I also wondered why offer down-baffled comforters in color (I was perusing The Company Store) if not to show them off.

Because some people don’t want to use a duvet cover and just want a color. I have a very light weight down comforter and in the winter i use it under my coverlet for a bit more warmth. I actually dislike duvet covers the bed always looks messy they are a pain to put back on after washing I wash my comforter and dry in the dryer with a 2 wool dryer balls comes out like new.
