Need help with Karastan Kingsley carpet

Does anyone have a photo of Karastan's Kingsley carpet in the Highgate color? Trying to figure out how much of the very light color is in the pattern. Thanks!

    Have you seen this one?

I think this is Chantilly. The small highgate sample I have is mostly dark with very little light areas. Thanks for your help though-much appreciated! Hate spending this much money without a clue on the overall pattern/color

Ah, sorry about that. This isn't the color you want either, but perhaps with the 2 of them, you can extrapolate what it would look like.

I am also searching everywhere for a photo of a larger area of the Destiny color. The samples are not large enough to even give a hint of the overall look and it's too expensive (with restocking fees) to take a chance!! The carpet is so unique and luxurious, but I'm not willing to buy it "blind". I have contacted Karastan customer service, but they referred me to my local retailer and supplier. I had already exhausted all options with them (they haven't sold it to anyone else and would charge the price of an area rug to get a larger sample). Karastan? Somebody? Please?! The four colors are too different to guess what the others would look like! The two photos above are the ONLY photos online :(

We literally just need someone to unroll a yard or two in the warehouse in Georgia and snap a photo. Or, find someone who WAS willing to buy it blind and install in in their home already...

I ended up going with a different carpet. The person I was working with was able to get a couple more samples sent to me, but they were only about 8"x8" and had almost none of the white/cream color. I am very good at extrapolating from a small sample, but not with this carpet. It is ridiculously gorgeous and so soft, but way too expensive to just jump into blind. I may eventually bite the bullet and put it in my closet. If I do, I will post a photo. But it will be a while before that happens. Good luck y'all!

Ha ha! Persistence and dumb luck paid off!! I met a friend of a friend a couple of weeks ago and in the 2 hours I spent with her found out she worked as a flooring purchaser in Atlanta (home of Karastan)... Told her my dilemma, she made a few calls and BOOM! Photo off the roll! This is supposedly "Destiny", which looks a lot different than the sample, but I'm sure lighting can be blamed for that. I am STUNNED by how different it looks in a large area vs. the samples... And how different it looks when viewing it "North South" vs. "East West"...

Told her to let Karastan know to put the darn (properly lit) photos on their website!! I wish this made our decision easier, but it sure is helpful!

I have a Karastan wool carpet and just recently found out that the newer ones are made of a material called Smartstrand. I've never seen a Smartstrand one but have to say I'm partial to wool. Smartstrand seems to have similar qualities as nylon, but nylon has been around for a long time and its advantages are well-known. Smartstrand hasn't been around that long so it's not nearly as well-tested, although the manufacturers extol its many virtues, especially its cleanability and ease of stain removal. Does anyone here have experience with a Smartstrand rug?

We're about to give it a go, but no prior experience. I'm sure you could find some threads related to your question, though most of the reviews I've seen on Smartstrand are several years old and it would appear it has improved since it's first release (?).

From what I understand, nylon can be "stain-proofed" by treating it, but that merely coats the fibers. Smartstrand is permanently "stain-proof" through and through due to the chemical composition of the fibers. That doesn't account for liquids soaking through to the pad, however...

Some complaints have been with the "silkiness" and texture of Smartstrand not holding up as well to traffic and vacuuming as nylon... but it FEELS so nice!! There are definite manufacturer's recommended care instructions to follow... All told, if I didn't have three young children, I'd still be partial to wool!

We did! This is the Destiny color. The photos don’t do it justice, but we are very pleased with the look and feel. Most people assume it’s a large area rug until they see it’s carpet (which is what I was going for). It hides our kid zone messes well and is very soft for us all to roll around on. Our house is quite modern and I was afraid the pattern would feel too traditional, but it is so subtle that it would go in many styles of home, imo.
The installer said it was very difficult to put in since it is woven with very little stretch. It took him all day for one room. He and I have noticed a few of the things that people with Smartstrand complain about. Random fibers will lose their twist and pull up, so I give haircuts. Some areas feel like they are getting a bit fuzzy, even though I bought a CRI approved vacuum. The marks left by said vacuum are very apparent, but the variation of color in the carpet helps hide that and footprints. None of this is enough to make me dissatisfied. I’ve had one incident with a few small drops of pasta sauce, and it did come out with water! All in all, I don’t think we could have picked a better carpet for our particular needs.

Wow!! That is gorgeous! And the color I am wondering about. So, so grateful you responded with those shots.
Even the carpet installer is having trouble getting any room scenes.
    Thank you!

WOW!! Thank you so much for posting! There are not nearly as many light patches as I was thinking there would be. This is a good thing. I really appreciate your remembering and taking the time to share :)

Kingsley Victorian - this is the one I selected for my home and it’s gorgeous in person! It has a bit more green than Destiny and coordinates perfectly with Highgate but of course has more cream in it. I thought I would share some photos since the store I purchased from had a rug for sale in each color.

We got destiny installed today and it’s more green than I saw on the swatch. It’s so impossible to read from a small search. For these patterned carpets you’d think they’d send a decent sized sample. The first two are in the daylight, and second two are at night.
