Okay, so the picture you posted before, wasn't of your bedroom... I would have appreciated it, had you posted the real bedroom picture right away.

Look at that pretty picture and learn from it. Copy it, if you will.

Whitewash the oak.

Where would you put your drapes? There hardly seems any place for them. I'd forgo on them. Just placing a beautiful big picture above the bed will help a lot.

I prefer drapes...The windows look bare without them and the room looks blah. I agree, art or something above the bed is needed.
Whitewash isn't really an option. I have 2 other large dressers (his & hers) in here and do not have time for such a project. I'm sure this can come together with the the furniture I have.

I'm not sure coral is the right color due to the color of your furniture. I think I'd stick with the blue and white. The blue and gold lamp that Irene posted would be a nice choice. I'd go with white linen, not that I don't like the trick with the sheers, but I don't like the coral with the color of your furniture.

I would go dark navy velvet for the drapes, and hang them a few inches above the actual window to make the window look bigger. The dark souls be pretty and keep the pretty bedspread as the focal point?

Looks like no coral is the winner. Thank you all for your help and advise. I will check out the websites. This also helps me to narrow down the artwork to blue and white scheme.

Have you given any thought to painting the room a different color? I would probably paint the room a gray blue or a gray green and have white curtains. Devine Color Paints Almond or Glass or Comtesse.

Badmouth thank you for posting the picture showing your furniture. I agree with above. I would not do coral with the oak Furniture. The brass and the drapery layering ideas that Irene posted would be perfect for the weight of the wood.. I’ll look for art. In your photo, the color in the bed looks darker than the picture from the store. It does look more like navy. Is it?

Jennifer I'm not opposed to painting the room. I was trying to stay away from blue walls as I have done that years ago and really want to keep this room bright.

They sell these curtains at overstock, Wayfair and Joss and Main, just adds a softness to the room. I like the white linen also with the blue trim, not sure where they are from, bust would be easy to get made. No coral.

Does this lamp appeal? Just click on it to take you to lamps plus/price. I like the idea of a celadon against a medium blue or dark blue drape. Or you could do a white ceramic lamp. Your lamps needs to balance the end tables, so no over light looking ones as in glass or even candlestick metal.

Notice there is a celadon vase in Macy's picture?

make sure your bedside lamps are taller than those you usually see. most people use lamps at bedside which are too short. 25" or over and take your drapes to just below ceiling.

Personally, I like something like this which mixes in celadon with neutrals, whites and blues. Remember you can mix blues from blue violet all the way to blue green and still have a monochromatic, soothing bedroom.

You could use modern lamps, but the nice ones are quite expensive.

really people, one can mix different styles in a room as long as color, weight, proportion are all taken into consideration.

I am a mix of traditional, as in French Country and simple to the point of Shaker. Personally, I would NEVER choose my art on the basis of color alone although in this case, we must consider color first in the art.

Your oak set and bedding are traditional, so I would suggest using contemporary vs too modern elements and it will still feel modern and fresh. You could create a strong and attractive focal wall by painting it deep blue, adding prints and roman blinds. I really like the lamps below as they are suitable for many different looks. It's helpful to save lots of inspiration pictures and have a vision, so you have a direction when purchasing accessories.

I like the coral lamps, but I like a bit of something unexpected in a room. Otherwise it becomes too predictable. Love the bedding...

Green is beautiful with white and blue. It has such a refreshing, cool feeling.

I purchased a solid blue drape that is a perfect match to the comforter but i'm not sure if I like that as much as the Navy with the sheer drape. If I stick with the sold blue drapes I'm not sure what my lamp options are? Whereas with the sheer I I think I have more options. Opinions?
And now seeing that green apple color I really like that!

Linda, painting those pieces isn't really an option. I have a large armoire and a long dresser in the same oak also my husband likes the set.

I prefer to have the drapes match my wall color. That way you can change bedding colors if you like at a later date. Just a thought

I like the navy with sheers, can you not get them on the condition you can return if not suitable, a softer look. In fact I would just have them made. I like the ones where it just a normal drape with the sheer overlay. The others had gomets , I think that's what you call them, where the rod goes through the holes at the top lol. A thought, then you get the right look and length

I ordered the sheer drapes today. They won't be in until next week which gives me a few days to pick the lamps and curtain rods. Hopefully by next weekend I'll have everything up!

when I mentioned the celadon lamp in my earlier post, I was adding the green you need. no coral because of the color of your oak.
