It doesn't look as though the background color in the countertop is true white. I think you could do better with a different backsplash.

It looks like you already have a gray backsplash above oven range. Why not carry that throughout and remove the granite 4" piece?

Evan,,, a little feedback on what's been said?? Posting another pic without commenting on anything that's been posted, doesn't help much. can you remove the 4" piece? do you want different tile? help us out.

This is how I used a gray subway tile to go with my busy granite. I think the options Irene posted look nice.

Your kitchen is lovely as is. You already have backsplash in place and it looks great. If you do not like the tile behind the range then remove it and paint the patched wall to match the rest of the wall.

Or if you just want to see what it will look like and are planning to remove them anyway.. leave the tile in place and just paint them the color of the wall.

If you are after a whole wall of backsplash then remove the 4" piece of granite and pick a subway tile to match the lightest color in the granite.

Evan, if you remove the 4" piece, you could do glass tiles something like this. This size is 4x12 and is in a stacked pattern. bit more modern vibe to it. this particular gray may be a bit too blue for your kitchen, but a lighter, warmer gray would work, or you could do this pattern in the cream subway tiles I posted earlier.

these hand made look tiles in Vanilla would also work 3x12 Lancaster, tilebar.
