I need to plant some hardy ground cover, hopefully something with beautiful color. I live in Southern California, zone 10. The planter has mostly shade due to a large tree but also gets a bit of sun peaking through on and off. Preferably less than 1 ft high. The faster it spreads the better as it's just dirt now.

My primary 2 concerns are being hardy (I have 2 dogs who may wander through) and having pretty color. I know very little about gardening but do have automatic sprinklers. Thank you !
