What direction should my carpet design run?

8 years ago
I had new carpet installed on my stairs going to my second floor and basement. The installer installed the turn two different ways. The stairs down to the basement have all the diamonds running the same direction. The design on the stairs going to the 2nd floor follow the direction you would be walking. Is one way correct?
