Counters are Pietra del Cardosa....a schist. Floors are 12x12 and 12x24 Brazil Grey natural slate.

Can you please tell me if the schist is very durable? I love it & could definitely consider for my kitchen if it's good & durable. Great kitchen! Thank you.

It is not as durable as a quartz product like a polished Cambria, Caesarstone or SileStone. A schist has the properties of a granite and a marble. If you leave an acidic product on it (lemon, lime, watermelon), it will etch. That said, it kind of has a life of its own. Slight etches disappear after a few days, coffee wipes up easily, and it cleans up nicely. I also had Ozzy seal my counter tops https://www.facebook.com/Permanent-Sealer-348417228601393/

We roll pizza doughs out on it all the time and serve hot pans right on it.

The only spot we had an issue was where my wife was opening a bottle of wine and when the cork gave the bottle slammed on the counter creating an 1/8" mark. Over time, it just blends with the leathered surface.

Thank you for the information. I'm going to have to find some & take a look.
