Can you give us an idea of your hobbies or decorating style? Is this room intended for crafts, reading, relaxing &/or other?

Thanks krmarchese for responding. I have a glass workshop (my hobby) next to the open space. The steps down to basement provide a natural separation of space. I’m pretty boring with really no decorating style. The house is traditional but I’m tired of the white cabinet/gray wall theme. I’ve done 2 kitchens like that within the last couple of years. I can’t get it out of my brain. I think I want to go a little modern with some bright colors or maybe some texture. There won’t b a lot of foam mat flooring choices, so it may b black/gray mat flooring but I won’t know for sure until I receive samples. The walls will b white. Exposed black matte ceiling with recessed can lighting. That’s all I have so far so wide open...maybe

With glass rubber/foam may not be a good choice for flooring. Breakage of any type could enter the flooring and be nearly impossible to remove without taking up the floor and replacing. Just another thing to think about.

Thanks. I’ve been using the interlocking gym mats from Walmart around the glass shop floor. Glass shards fall on them but I can easily sweep up and can remove gym mat and clean beneath mat tiles. I’ve used the luxury vinyl tiles but a cement floor is hard on my legs and lower back and I don’t feel the vinyl tiles are thick enough.

This lounge area will be for taking a break: coffee drinking, maybe do something at laptop, some exercise, visitors/family, my quiet time, etc.
