Did you bring up your concerns with the Vet? I would go back and ask for a preventative that is Ivermectin Free. My dog isn’t an aussie, but the one our Vet prescribes is Sentinal and it’s one that does not have Ivermectin in it. If your Vet doesn’t want to prescribe Sentinal, I’m sure there are others that would be appropriate as well. As for the testing, I would probably just choose to use a medication that is known to be ok for your dogs breed regardless and not worry so much about the test.

Given that you have a puppy (almost a completely different creature from a grown dog) I would not only question your vet but also a breeder or someone who specializes in this breed.

Can't be to careful with puppies.

yes the advantage multi insert said that.

I am going to contact the breeder and ask her what she uses for her dogs. It just scares me when you read about so many people having problems with these products.

Maybe worth testing for the MDR1 gene to see if he has two, one, or zero copies of it. It will put your mind at ease and/or know for sure how potentially sensitive he is.

Get your dog tested.
