Question about Kona Red for Block Lottery

I am excited to try to participate in the 2018 quilt block lotteries. I’m digging through my modest stash and putting colors together.

I have a “red” question though.

Which “Kona Red” fabric is to be used for the February Lotto block?

I went to the Missouri Star Quilt Co. site and found Kona in “Red,” “Rich Red,” “Lipstick,” “Ruby,” “Poppy,” “Chinese,” etc. They all appeared to be a rich red color on my monitor.

My LQS is 45 miles away. Before commenting to a 90 round trip, I called them today. They do not carry Kona fabrics. They do stock Moda. I will be ordering the Kona reds and blacks on line.

Which red should I use?

Welcome to the lotto!

Just to clarify, for the February block, any true red is fine. We just want to avoid reds with too much yellow or blue in it

If you want to use Kona solids, then "Red" (Manufacturer SKU: K001-1308) would work great. Also, "Cardinal" and "Lipstick" would work (as I have both of those in my stash).

Not sure where you live, but Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's both carry some Kona solids in their store (and more colors on line). In my area, both stores carry Kona "Red" as well as Kona "Black" in the store.

If you have any more questions, just let us know. When I joined in I had lots of questions and everyone was really helpful.
