Layout critique, advice, suggestions

I am looking for some layout feedback. The island layout isn't exact, but this my first run at the overall layout.

1. 10'x 17' overall kitchen dimension.

2. 96" x 42" island

3. 48" spacing between all counters and island.

4. The window placement isn't set yet on my plans, but that is most likely where it will go.

5. 36" cooktop

What do you think? Thanks in advance!

Do you cook (and especially bake) a ton? Because you're using an oversized cook top and double wall ovens in what is otherwise a smallish kitchen. I think I'd rather have a range and a pull-out pantry in the same footprint.

Can't see island, but I'd want (a) a trash pullout somewhere, and (b) some oversized drawers for pans, storage containers, and just about everything else... Right now you're all cabinets and smaller drawers, which are not at all the same!

Not bad, I would probably put the microwave in the island and get a vent hood though. Just a more polished look.

I do cook daily, and I bake pretty often. Not pictured is a pantry thats an actual built in room 4' from the island. I do a lot of cakes, so I really wanted the double ovens. I do have a big trash pull out in the island. I will take a look at some large drawers, that sounds pretty handy!

I was unaware of the code issue. Thank!

MW cannot be paired with a 36" cooktop. You cannot have combustables near that area hence the 3" of cabinet going into the cooking area. Would do a stainless hood and a MW on the island. Are you a heavy cooker or baker in terms of needing 2 ovens?? If not then you can do a full range or cooktop oven combo and do a pantry next to the Frig and open up the right side of the stove for more counter space.

    Good use of space.

This is a great layout for the space. I agree with everyone else about moving the microwave and getting a hood. One that's actually vented to the outside. They work sooo much better than microwaves. If you have young kids, I wouldn't put the microwave in the island as suggested. They tend to think all kinds of things can go in there or they turn it on with nothing inside! If there are no young kids, the island is a great place. It could also go next to the stove or refrigerator.

I could be happy with this layout. A few thoughts: Take the upper cabinets all the way to the ceiling; add decorative shelves to the sides of the uppers by the window; swap the cabinet below the cook-top for pull out drawers. You are so lucky to have a pantry. Enjoy!

Okay, so I'm searching for a hood now, lol. I think I'll need to put the microwave in the upper cabinets elsewhere. I'm 6'6", so having the microwave in the island would be a pain in the back, lol.
