Looking at your photo, the room needs some color. The wall color, the end chairs and the lamp shades are all the same color. The chairs are a little more upscale than the sofa. I love the painting above the sofa. I would paint the living room in a grey blue, put a slipcover on the sofa in a light cream or yellow, Add some pillows to the sofa and the white chair in blue, yellow, charcoal, Put a rug under the coffee table in these colors theme, The room is off balance, there is only one end table and that corner has a lot going on. Can you bring the sofa down some? If not Add some height to the other end with a floor lamp etc. The TV, do some floating shelves on the sides and above to create some areas for pictures and colorful vases etc. I would get some small black and white photos maybe 9 of them and add some height above the TV. As for the blinds, I would run a long curtain pole at the top get some curtains to match the color theme, and put some white blinds on the windows. You can also frame some small black and white pictures to go beside the large one behind the sofa, the picture don't have to be the same size but create a group setting of nature black and white pictures will also add interest. You might also rethink the lamp?
