What are the room dimensions? I think you just need to float the sofa...push it to maybe 8-10 feet in front of the fireplace.

You see this a lot, if you read other posts, but the TV is too high over the fireplace. I'd put a large print or painting there and move it to the long wall to the left. Something similar to Irene Morresey first picture. It looks like a lovely space.

Perfect for facing sofas and a couple small swivel chairs...we love it in our family room!

That’s a very difficult wall colour to work with. The fan/light is quite kitschy, but would benefit being painted to match the ceiling.
The room need a large rug to anchor all the furniture. Art will make a significant difference. Keep in mind that (table/floor) lamp lighting is the most flattering.

What s the width and length of the room?

Put the TV on the wall to the left of the fireplace. That way you'll avoid a traffic pattern between TV and sofa.

Floating the furniture closer to the fire place will make the room feel much better.

It also allows you to put it at a decent height for viewing.

Look online for standard rug sizes. Find one that is at least 2' wider than your sofa. Use painter's tape and tape one that size on the floor, centered 12-18" in front of the fireplace (you want floor exposed in front of the hearth.) Then pull the sofa forward until the front 1/3 of it is on the "rug" you've taped out. See how that feels. You'll be able to put a sofa table behind the sofa, and in such a long room you may be able to make 2 seating areas with back to back chairs and/or sofas. If you can duplicate with the same rug at both ens of the room you will have a FP seating group and a TV group at the opposite end between the two arched entries. Sofas don't necessarily have to be the same (see second pic.)

Room dimensions are always listed on the house info. Read it.

I woukd say you need at least 24’ in length at a minimum to do the back to back seating...but why? Looks like a funeral parlor or a lodge....sorry just not very cozy looking for a family and you loose so much floor space that would give such a wonderful open feeling.

@ stlouisgaltoo Not true. Most realtors don't measure every room, especially in neighborhoods where the stock is pretty consistent.

I love Irene's idea, also agree that the fan might need to be replaced and updated.

I do agree if moving TV to side wall Irene’s 1st inspiration room is very nice..only thing is I would loose the chaise at the end of the sofa...will give the opportunity to really dress up the fireplace with art or mirror.
