Buying Famous Property
While we're all famous in our own minds, the rest of the world doesn't necessarily see it that way. (Not to mention those closest to us!)
The sheen of vicarious fame undoubtedly drives much of the memorabilia market. From Liberace's Baldwin grand to Monroe's dresses.
But what about the abodes of celebrated artists and entertainers? Value there?
Looking for a new home when we move next year, I came across "The Oaks" in Plainfield, N.H. This 15,534 sf multi-building estate was the home of famed artist Maxfield Parrish. Indeed, the little village was at one time the focus of a creative colony of more than 100 artists who spent their summers in NH, their winters in warmer climes.
The house, in part lovingly maintained by its current architect owner, has incredible views from all sides; in fact, it's bathed light.
Anyone else ever tempted or purchased property with a similar provenance?
