Why do you want black SS?

The issue with it is 1- it's dark, not as dark as pure black but still it will suck the light out and in this picture, your kitchen seems like lighting is an issue.

2- SS is the same even between different brands. Black SS is a fad, so if it dies no guarantee you'll be able to find a matching replacement.

3- Having consistently colored appliances always looks better.

It's your house so do whatever you like at the end of the day. :) Personally I would want the finish of all my appliances to match.

matching always keeps things consistent, however I have seen black counter depth fridge with cherry cabinets and a stainless stove that looked good.

Sina, thanks for being concerned. One reason going black is that my husband likes dark. All the counters will be changed out to a quartz mostly white with some green and light brown/tan color mixed in, to match the oak wood floors and the sage harbor grey (it looks green) walls . So this should lighten it up a bit plus we are having drop down lights over the upper counter. As for mixing the two stainless steel colors we probably won’t.

Since the wall ovens have large black windows, I think black ss will look fine.

Black stainless shows scratches much more than stainless. It may or may not be a trend, time will tell. I wouldn't add a new appliance color simply because my husband likes dark.

I would keep the appliances consistent throughout the kitchen.

My microwave and oven are stainless but my fridge and dishwasher are black stainless. I'm waiting for my microwave and oven to go out until I switch them over. Until then, it looks great and friends and family haven't noticed the difference!

If your husband likes “dark,” then indulge him with black small appliances that are good to have in black because they won’t discolor.
Some examples are a coffeemaker, toaster, blender, standing mixer, etc. and other kitchen accessories such as a utensil crock.
These other touches of black will give your kitchen the modern sleek look your husband likes, and since these kitchen smalls will also have some stainless in them as well, they will serve as the visual transition between the black and the stainless large appliances.

I like consistency , all stainless or all black stainless steel.I have had black stainless and the it has a tendency to peel after awhile( Whirpool bought back black Stainless steel refrgerator ,dishwasher ,range and oven because of the peeling).So I went back to the fingerprint finish stainless steel.

Personally, mixing matches gives off a bold look, which I enjoy.

Use stainless or combine with solid black (matte). A black fridge will have the most impact (for husband's dark desires).
