Trailing Lantanas?

I was actually thinking of mixing a chartreuse one with the black sweet potato to really bring out the black of it (I normally don't like mixing "special foliage colors" but black that looks black and not too purple, Black Coral definitely looks actually black, + chartreuse is an exception). Good to know the two don't kill eachother because that's a very inexpensive option c:

@ Carol: OOh yes I like trailing lantanas, unfortunately I actually have a bunch of lantanas in the bed in front of where the containers will be so I want something different

(in a weird way I was also thinking of using some whisk ferns.... I really like the way those prehistoric plants look and I never see them used ornamentally, at least not in the west. a lot grow wild in my yard under bushes and they are very neat)

Purple queen if you want to keep the plantings on the dark side. For something different maybe varigated cuban oregano?

Nichols: That's a pretty planter!! Asparagus ferns are pretty but they are invasive in my yard. I'm still removing the babies from a plant I planted when I was 8 and removed years ago lol they would make nice annuals, though! You're right, they do look a lot like whisk ferns, I always double check before I pull for that reason.

Pea: I've never even heard of cuban oregano... I'll have to look into that thank you. I considered golden thyme but Elephant ears like it wetter than thyme.

Here is a site with an image and a description. They say it grows to be 18 inches but not in my experience...in a pot it tends to grow up a bit then grow down around the rim. As an added plus you can cook with it and it smells interesting.
