My kitchen cabinets are finally here and now I have to figure out the backsplash. Where should it be on the hood wall? Straight line across or lower on either side of hood?

I will be adding shelves but I want to see the kitchen with the counters before I decide where the shelves will be - doubles on either side of the hood and then a single to left of sink, just hood wall, just sink wall?

Counter along the L is this Carrara

The island will have a reclaimed chestnut top.

Cabinets are SW Dark Night - which is a midnight blue with a hint of green.

I‘d love to do a copper or brass backsplash on the hood wall but then do I do something different on the window wall?

I have also considered zellige and brick.
