Will not stay lit.

We bought this heater about 3 years ago. It is in a small cabin that we visit occasionally, so it has not been over used. It has worked great and kept the cabin warm even on super cold days and nights. We now have a problem. It will light but will go out in a few seconds. The longest I have gotten it to stay on is 22 seconds. I tried to clean any dust off of the accessible parts just in case, but that did not help. Could it be a sensor or something? Or is this a common problem and we need to replace a part??

You stated that this unit is used in a cabin, We are taking it that you barely stay at this location correct? When you stated that you cleaned the unit, how did you clean this unit?

We do recommend that you get a can of compressed air, no greater that 30 psi. You are going to cut that pilot off and allow that unit to cool down, about 30 minutes. Once cooled down removed the logs. Take the can of compressed air along with the straw attachment and spray inside of that orifice as well as those burner inlet holes.

Even though our homes, your case your cabin, is visible clean. There is a lot of dirt and dust as well as spider webs even. That can get in the unit, clog that unit from there the NG/LP will have to struggle to get to that igniter and pilot.

If after cleaning that unit and the same issue is still there. The next would be that the ODS (oxygen depletion sensor) would need to be replaced. Generally cleaning the unit does the job.
