Can you post pictures?

I wouldn't include family photos; that's a personal preference. If you do elect to use them, create a gallery wall with them so they aren't spread out here and there around the room. The shared wall with the kitchen would probably be a good spot for them.

Apart from that I'd say that if you love the art, you can hang it anywhere there's room! If you don't love it, no need to fill all the walls :)

A different poster (Amoeba-moeba) has a genius way of hanging art. She makes a photocopy of each piece, marks where the hanger is on the front of the photocopy, then experiments with different arrangements until she finds one that pleases her. At that point she drives her nail or other hardware through the photocopy where the hanger is marked, tears the copy away, and hangs the original. Brilliant!
