I’m renovating my home, a 2200sf 4br2.5ba home. Our home is one of the older homes in the neighborhood - built in ‘66. Other, newer, homes in the area are much larger in scale and more modern in their floor plans and their starting price is about 25% more than what ours would be on resale. This is my master bathroom that we will be renovating later this year. We are currently debating two renovation options.

Option 1

Combine this bathroom with the one on the other side of the right wall. With the extra space, we will build a water closet for the toilet (where existing shower is), and build a 3x5 walk in shower for 2. We will re-build a guest bath in aa weird shaped, but sizable closet just down the hall. We think this will help us compete with the newer homes in the neighborhood.

Option 2

Renovate this bathroom with the footprint essentially the same. We will steal the upper right hand corner from the small bedroom’s closet to make a much larger shower. New vanity with Double sinks and shelving tower in the center. This is the cheaper, less time intensive option and assumes that if someone wants a huge bathroom, they will buy one of the newer homes.
