We did a white with very light marbling in our oak kitchen. We used Corian.

Take one of your cabinet door & go to the stone yard. This way you can see options together. The pendant lights are a bit out of place. Do you have plans to incorporate blue elsewhere? If you are not going to do a stone then marble & soapstone are out. I would go with a very light quartz with a hint of your cabinet color in it.

I used a warm quartz - though there is some gray in it.

From your picture I think the cabinets might be maple - I don't see the grain of oak like in mine.

Marble would go with the floor. Have you thought about staining your cabinets? That may open up more choices for you!

But won't marble with its cool undertones clash with the warm tile floor and the cabinets? I would vote for a quartz that picks up warm tones or perhaps a neutral corian.

i wouldn't go with stark white. Look up Bianco Romano and try to get a slab with lots of movement to it.

Thanks for the input! My wife really hates beige anything. The whole house was painted beige before we bought it. The counters are a horrible tan right now thats why I think she wants the white (we have white appliances) or gray.

I helped my neighbor revamp her kitchen with maple cabinets. she chose a black granite called Belvedere. it's got some off white veining as will as some of the warmer gold/yellow spots. it's so perfect. She chose polished but there was also a leathered slab there that was fabulous. I can post a picture if you are interested.

Most warm wood tones do not work well with lots of cool gray - neither does anything for the other, and they can look drab together. Maple can sometimes work with gray - I think because of its yellow undertone. From the pics your cabinets look more like auntthelma's than mine - notice the grain in mine. So, if your cabinets are maple, you have a better chance of making gray work. Here is a rather dramatic use of gray with maple - which works because of the use of a lot of white too:

The grays became popular with the white and very dark stained cabinets, not the warm toned cabinets of a decade ago. Warm wood is returning and the use of gray is waning - though I don't think it will ever be gone - it is a neutral that works well in many situations. In the last few weeks I noticed my doctors office, my dentist, the local community college, and the newly remodeled local Burger King all had gray walls - which means it has been overused and will decline for a bit.

White thick quartz with marble look, and med wood floors, paint the cupboards white...primer then 2 coats ...brand new kitchen....

We have oak cabinets custom made for a very small kitchen. We just installed black quartz counters, painted the walls a soft sage, and chose white subway tiles for the backsplash. Quartz is sealed and only requires soap and water cleanup.

Go to Home Depot n get a bunch of those laminate countertop samples, just to get an idea on whether u like a light or dark counter with ur cabinets. I did this n probably could have made one my own with all the samples I brought home. Lol.

This is what we did in a recent project, but we did wood floors. If you are keeping the flooring you won't want to do a grey.

If you're thinking about putting in a high end quality counter top you should seriously think about replacing your floors. No matter what you pick the flooring might take away from how nice the counters are. Nothing beats Carrara marble to me
