My husband replaced our without any problem a few years ago. I don't remember the price, but it was no were near $1200 I think I ordered it from Amazon or one of the big box stores. Just make sure you measure correctly.

I spray painted mine as well and it turned out great. I went with a grey high heat spray paint. I am not sure if a high heat paint was necessary though if it wasn't I could have had access to many more colors if I did just a indoor outdoor spray paint

I did the high heat paint also on mine. I think regular spray paint would bubble due to the heat from the fire.

There are dozens of YouTube videos and articles on how to do this. If you don't like the results you can always buy a new doors. The big box stores have many in the $300-400 range.

We sprayed ours as well from brass to black. Turned out great. No longer dated.
