awkward laundry room

I have paint picked out but I don’t know how to set up this awkward laundry room. The machine hook ups are on opposite sides of the room. I need a laundry area, utility area and recycling area. I’m stumped. Help!

RanMarie I thought the same. I just need to be able to get back behind the machines every so often that’s the boiler and furnace. I thought of a rolling cart.

My recycling only comes 2x a month and I have those bins to hold all of the recycling. My utilities include tools/ cleaning tools (vacuum/mop/ broom) paint supplies/ detergent etc.

Wow! What an awkward-looking design. Honestly, I’d start from scratch and get custom cabinets for the long wall and move your washer and dryer there, under a countertop, for folding. You’d likely be able to put cabinets or a closet where the washer is now. You may or may not have to move your dryer connection and you’ll need to decide if you want a sink. Then get similar doors or put a pocket door on your furnace room. I recently renovated my awkward, unfunctional laundry room and I absolutely love it now! I don’t regret a single nickel I spent.

I didn't realize that was a door behind the dryer! I do agree with enjoythejourney, you would be a lot better off changing the room around. Is the current setup compliant with local code? You have a good amount of room to work with.

As to the recycling, is there anywhere out side you could keep that? I find it can stink a bit if you leave it inside too long.

Post the dimensions of the room and we'll see what we can do! :)

Looks like maybe a roof leak to tend to as well.

Without a measured floor plan and an inkling about the size of the furnace room, it's hard to make an meaningful suggestions. Also, an idea of the budget for the project.

This room looks like a porch conversion on a slab floor??

But, I'm wondering if reducing the size of the room and increasing the size of the boiler room might be something to consider.

I would love to see the W&D side by side on the end wall but don't think that is do-able and have space for a good sized doorway into the boiler room. Looks like the room is less than 8' wide and there is a radiator near the floor that further reduces the available space.

Putting the W/D on the exterior wall might be do-able. Getting water on that wall probably not that hard to do but the drain line could be a lot trickier. Of course, there is a question about climate and having plumbing on an exterior wall...
