60s ranch, what next?

Just finished adding porch to enjoy golf course view across the street. Love the porch but need to decide a couple of things:

should we replace the old aluminum siding behind the porch with cement lapboard, brick to match the other side of the house or something else?

if we replace the siding with brick should we paint the entire front the same color?

should we take the shutters off and do something else like wood trim and window boxes?

I love the cottage style! Is there any way I can make that happen?

This house is not a cottage so forget that . Remove the shutters for sure get a new door that actually suits the style of the house . I would add brick on the far right face to give the house a bit of balance.This in no way suits window boxes. Wider trim on the windows would be nice. You could just paint the siding if you wanted to.

Is there a two story at the Lt back ? The roofline is saying that....or an addition?

There is an addition on the back which makes for the strange roof line, but it is a ranch.

I didn't send a picture because the contractor is still working on the trim and installing the door wall so there's debris everywhere. I was hoping to have him work on any other changes (hopefully with suggestions from Design Dilemma : ) ) while he's still here so I sent the plan picture.

The feedback is really helping!!
