Electrical panel upgrade options

We are considering installing a mini-split air conditioner in our house. We need to get 220 volts to it on the far side of the house, so wire will have to be run through the entire attic. But we don't have any free circuits in our service panel , which is quite old. Unfortunately it can't be easily replaced because it is inside our house over our washing machine and that is no longer allowed by code. I read that one solution is to install a new main switch on the outside of the house which will have a few extra circuits and wire the A/C to that (the utility meter will also plug into it?) and leave the old panel alone. But since I will be spending money on an electrician, I'd also like to install a manual transfer switch in order to be able to power the new A/C and our refrigerator after the next hurricane (I'm in Miami). Is there a single panel that can combine a main switch, give you a few extra circuits, and have a manual transfer? Or does the transfer switch have to be done separately? thanks
