Looking for feedback on GE Profile French door refrigerators

I'd appreciate any feedback on GE Profile French door refrigerators! I've heard they are noisy, and the ice maker has issues. Anyone experience either?

Here's a review I just posted on costco.com ... This is a Profile fridge.

Purchased the PYE22KSKSS end of May, 2018. Thoughts after one month of ownership...

Pros:

I love this fridge.

Quiet. Hums a bit when "active" but perfectly fine. Surprised when I see 'noisy' in other reviews.

Lighting is great, can really see everything you have. Things got lost in my old side-by-side.

Front is magnetic

Well thought out layout. Drop-down tray a nice add as is the small shelf in freezer door.

Autofill tray slides out to 5-1/2" - should accomodate an 8" pot.

Made in USA - better support (at least in my area)

Costco! Extended warranties, great return policy, cash back with Citi card.

Cons:

Smudges but cleans up easily with a good stainless cleaner.

Top freezer drawer a bit wobbly. I read a few washers in the right-side gear can resolve this (untried). Not a problem for me.

Door alarm doesn't work if door only slightly ajar. Alarm is a bit soft even on high.

Other:

Do not block the square hole on left in the drawer in the fridge - this will cause freezing in the fridge. Blocking the hole confuses the evaporators.

My vegetables last much, much longer now.

I read (not verified) that after 6 months the water filter will not pass water or make ice unless replaced with a genuine GE replacement. Simply call GE and request a Water Filter Bypass (WR17X23645) free from GE (also on Amazon). There's also a hack to use the RFID chip from this bypass to allow use of 3rd-party filters (Google it).

The "TwinChill™ Evaporators" are a nice feature. According to Consumer Reports (April 2018):

"Another feature we’ve seen more of in our labs is dual evaporators — one for the fresh food compartment and another for the freezer — instead of just one in the freezer that has to cool both sections. Our tests confirm that dual evaporators are better at maintaining optimal humidity in both sections. They also prevent odors from migrating between compartments, keeping ice cubes from tasting like fish and other smelly foods."

I bought this model 3 1/2 months ago: PWE23KSKSS . So far it's exceeded my expectations. Very quiet, holds more than I thought it would, easy to keep clean, functions as it should (knock on wood.) I like the interior water dispenser & don't miss crushed ice.

I'd read complaints about this model (noise, dripping water dispenser) but mine's been problem free. I wonder if Haier has ironed out some of the problems since buying GE's appliance division two years ago.

When I remodeled my kitchen in California several years, I chose all GE Profile appliances including a French-door refrigerator. I sold my home about eight years later and never had problems with any of the GE Profile appliances during that period.

Bought my current house with a GE French door fridge. It’s the only appliance that has been a nightmare for me ever since we moved here. Freezer doesn’t cool properly, parts were discontinued and I’ve had four different companies/specialists come in to see what’s wrong and no one can figure it out. So so happy to be done with this fridge when we move. I could be an anomaly of course. My GE Range with grill has been nothing but great though.

My GE French Door refrigerator with the icemaker in the door has been nothing but a nightmare since I bought it last August.
It is a 27.9 foot energy star
Icemaker jamming
Bins breaking at the slightest pressure
Freezer door handle falling off
Freezer door gasket falling off
Multiple visits by repair personel

GE leadership is declining to replace- and only repairing as I had to extend the warranty due to so many problems.

I have had used refrigerators with less issues.

GE might have been a good company in the past but this new model, one I paid top dollar for, has been extremely disappointing. Had leadership responded appropriately to a request to buy back or replace this Lemon I would not be writing this, but now feel it important to let others know before the but this model, or from GE.

We've had one for the last 3 years and have had no issues that require repair or service. It is a little noisy and the ice maker does require us to take it apart and unclog the ice on occasion. None of that bothers me. What does both me is the freezer. It's small and it's difficult to keep organized. But I'm thinking that would be true of any bottom drawer freezer. We are a family of 4 and I do cook a lot of chili, soups, stews, spaghetti sauce, etc in the late fall and winter. We do have to utilize an additional freezer in our garage to hold everything.

Other than my complaint about lack of organization in the freezer, the GE has been great!
