Pendant lighting for kitchen island

Hello! I am a huge fan of oversized pendant lighting and recently purchased the Flynn oversized recycled glass pendants from Pottery Barn. Specs are as follows...

1. Lights are 24" in height, 17' in diameter.

2. As hung, chain is 15" from ceiling to top of glass.

3. 31" clearance from counter top to bottom of glass.

4. Kitchen island is 9' x 4.5'.

My questions are (obvious), are these too big for the space? Does this distract from the dinette fixture? Or are these spaces separate enough to be considered aesthetically ok? We did not cut any cords or chains "in case" these don't work out. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks, Denise
